I love photography, and in particular, night sky, "light painting", and long exposure photography. I love the whole process. It’s enlightening, therapeutic, and satisfying to me because the very process forces me to connect with the world. I get to slow down and appreciate what is going on around me. And if I'm light painting, it's an active form of art, a performance of sorts.

I have won a number of photography contests in the past couple of years, including ones for Lonely Planet, Smithsonian Magazine, Bodie ghost town, Joshua Tree National Park, and Los Angeles Times. I have had my photos selected as the Daily Dozen by National Geographic, and been a featured photographer in the Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles Magazine, Orange County Magazine, Location California, LA Yoga Magazine, and various magazines and encyclopedias and more too numerous to mention. I occasionally give photography workshops on star trails and light painting.

print / online publication

April 2015: I was informed that one of my photos was selected to be on the Bodie Foundation's upcoming 2016 calendar.

November 2014: I purchased a ProtoMachines LED2 full color photography light, made specifically for light painting. Some of the best light painting photographers I've seen use this amazing light, and so when ProtoMachines asked to include me in their ProtoMachines LED2 Gallery, I was beyond flattered. The gallery includes photographers such as Troy Paiva, who largely pioneered much of this sort of light painting along with Lance Keimig, Ron Pinkerton, Sandra Jungling, Timothy Little, and George Loo.

Sepetember 2014: Featured in The People Behind The Places: What inspires Ken Lee and his photography. This features an interview and about seventeen photos, including portraits of Pharoah Sanders and Aung San Suu Kyi, night sky, star trails, and long exposure photos from around the world.

September 2014: My photo of Dripping Cave in Orange County was published in Los Angeles Magazine's “Outdoor Adventures Handbook sponsored by Lexus.”

Summer 2014: Won the photography contest for Joshua Tree National Park.

2014: one of the finalists in the Smithsonian 11th Annual Photo Contest (Nature Section, #4). My night sky Milky Way photo entitled "They Roamed The Earth", featuring giant metal sculptures of a scorpion and cricket created by Ricardo Breceda, was chosen from over 50,000 photo entries.

Sepetember 2013: I won the Los Angeles Times Editor's Choice for Summer Photos 2013! My photo is featured on the front page of the LA Times Travel section for 22 September 2013.
