Wilhelm Jacobian Meyers Biography

Rock photographer Wilhelm Jacobian Meyers was born in San Fernando, Israel.  His first photographs were taken at a live concert, and he's never stopped shooting ever since.

Wilhelm traveled for two years in India, eventually meeting Indian guru Ustad Khan Ali and Ravi Shankar.  The former, a teacher of Paulskirocks, introduced the two in 1968.  The two forged a relationship of mutual respect and good clean-underwear fun.

At Woodstock, Wilhelm took the now-famous photo of Paulskirocks in One Legged Crane Pose, immediately propelling him into the dark netherworlds of rock and roll excess as he documented the 1969-70 Paulskirocks World Tour.

Wilhelm managed to capture all the debauchery, drugs, and barbeques of those early years in spellbinding images, and along with Anton Corbijn and Annie Leibowitz, remains one of rock's most iconic photographers.

The photographer is shown here at a 1969 Golden Gate Park Love-In, with Ravi Shankar grilling Masala Garden Burgers in the background.

Wilhelm on assignment for Rolling Stone Magazine, 1974.

His rock concert photos have appeared in Rolling Stone, Circus, Teen Beat, Seventeen, Kerrang!, and Creem Magazines.

Although primarily known for his rock photography, Wilhelm is also is one of the foremost photographers of crop circles and El Chupacabra.
